The Eagles weren’t as aggressive to open Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, and actually traded back out of their first two picks of the day. They ended up finally making a selection at No. 127 overall and surprised some when they picked running back Will Shipley out of Clemson.

Reactions were mixed to the Shipley pick, with some highlighting the RB’s potential and even predicting he could jump Kenny Gainwell as RB2. Others, however, don’t see his value over alternative rushers who were still available, especially not with a fourth round pick.

Still, the Eagles ultimately added the versatile running back, and ended up trading even further back again just a few spots later. For what it’s worth, two RBs came off the board in the subsequent picks after the Eagles chose Shipley, so it seems like they got their guy at the right time.
