Ninth-ranked Ohio State and No. 12 Ball State survived five-set MIVA matches Friday in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball, while in the Pro Volleyball Federation, the Omaha Supernovas went overtime in two of their four sets in a victory over the Grand Rapids Rise.

In a very light Good Friday NCAA men’s slate, there’s a key MPSF battle when second-ranked UCLA plays host to No. 6 Stanford and No 7 BYU is home for Concordia Irvine.
Six ranked teams play each other in the Big West, as top-ranked Long Beach State entertains No 17 UC San Diego, No. 5 Hawai’i home for No. 20 UC Santa Barbara and No. 4 UC Irvine is at No. 16 CSUN.
There are three EIVA matches with No. 10 Penn State home for Harvard, Charleston is at NJIT and No. 19 George Mason is home for the NEC’s Sacred Heart and
The lone MIVA match as Purdue Fort Wayne at Lindenwood.
Conference Carolinas is off.
In the NEC, D’Youville is at Fairleigh Dickinson, Merrimack goes back to Saint Francis (PA) and Daemen is at LIU.
The only SIAC match as Central State at Edward Waters and the ECC’s Thomas More is at independent Tusculum.

Ohio State (17-7, 10-4) stayed two games off the MIVA lead after coming away with a 26-28, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 15-10 victory at No. 18 McKendree (14-9, 8-6). Kyle Teune and Shane Wetzel had 15 kills each for Ohio State. Teune had an assist, three aces, two blocks and eight digs, while Wetzel had two aces, four blocks and five digs. Cole Young had 10 kills with two errors in 18 attacks, four blocks and two digs, and Jacob Pasteur had eight kills in 13 errorless swings, two assists, two aces and three digs. Ben Putnam had 13 digs and two assists and Thomas Poole had 15 digs and three assists. Tripp Tyler led McKendree with 29 kills, an ace, six blocks and six digs. Kevin Schuele had 12 kills, an assist, two block and seven digs. D’Aaron McCraney added 10 kills on 21 errorless attacks, a dig and five blocks, one solo …
Ball State (18-8, 11-2) maintained its two-game lead in the loss column with a 19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 26-28, 15-13 victory at No. 14 Lewis (14-12, 7-6). Tinaishe Ndavazocheva led the Cardinals with 23 kills, hitting .320, and had two assists, an ace, four blocks and nine digs. Rodney Wallace had 10 kills, hit .389, and had an ace, eight blocks and four digs. Dyer Ball had nin ekill, two aces, four blocks and five digs and Ryan Bartz had eight kills, three assists, two aces, three blocks and nine digs. Lewis got 21 kils from Max Roquet, who had eight digs and seven blocks, one solo, and Syver Drolsum had 13 kills, two aces and nine digs. No. 13 Loyola (16-9, 10-4) stayed tied with Ohio State as the Ramblers blasted visiting Queens ( 9-16, 2-11). Loyola hit .458 in the 25-13, 25-17, 25-21 victory as Parker Van Buren and Daniel Fabikovic had 13 kills each. Van Buren had two errors in 18 swings, an assist, an ace and four digs, and Fabikovic had one error in 21 attacks, a ace and three digs …
In the NEC, Saint Francis (PA) improved to 15-8 and stayed unbeaten in league at 7-0 with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 sweep of visiting Merrimack (7-12, 2-5). Nathan Zini led with 14 kills, two aces, two blocks and six digs. Merrimack’s Logan Whitaker had 13 kills and hit .400 …
Emmanuel (9-16) of Conference Carolinas swept visiting independent Tusculum (6-20) behind 17 kills from Eli Zdonek, who hit .556 and had three digs and two blocks … St. Thomas Aquinas (7-12, 4-1) swept its ECC match over visiting Dominican (9-11, 2-2) as Kyran Versteegan had 11 kills and Gabriel Vieira 10 to go with nine digs and four blocks, one solo.
Pro Volleyball Federation
Brooke Nuneviller had season-best 24 kills and a franchise-record 22 digs as the Omaha Supernovas beat the visiting Grand Rapids Rise 27-25, 20-25, 30-28, 25-22.
Omaha, playing for the first time two weeks, is 10-4 and is a game back in the win column of first-place Atlanta (10-4). Grand Rapids (6-6) remained alone in third place, a game ahead of idle Columbus (5-6) in the win column.
Nuneviller got her kills in 63 swings and added an ace and a block assist. Jess Schaben-Lansman had 13 kills, eight digs and seven blocks, three solo. Paige Briggs came off the bench to get 11 kills with one error in 20 attacks, an ace, an assist and six digs. Briggs had seven kills with no errors in the fourth set. Sydney Hilley had a franchise-best 51 assists, 15 digs, and five kills.
Emiliya Dimitrova led the Rise with 23 kills and had two aces, an assist, 16 digs and eight blocks, two solo. Claire Chaussee added 17 kills and had an ace, an assist, 11 digs and four blocks, one solo. Marin Grote had seven kills with one error in 19 attacks, two digs and nine blocks, two solo. Ashley Evans had 49 assists, nine digs, a kill, and seven blocks, two solo.
