When will the Minnesota Vikings extend Justin Jefferson?

Well, I think the Justin Jefferson contract extension will probably be in the “news” up until it gets done right? He definitely should get more than A.J. Brown who received $32 million per year in his new deal. Brown has 379 receptions for 5,947 yards and 42 TDs through 5 seasons. JJ has 392 receptions for 5,899 yards and 30 TDs through 4 seasons.

I do not know if the Ja’Marr Chase or Cee Dee Lamb extensions have anything to do with the timing but the Minnesota Vikings should not wait to reward their best player by far.

Now, I am thinking a 4-year $150 million extension would be very fair and would be $37.5M per year.

He could get a 35M signing bonus, a 15M option bonus next year.
Salaries of 19.743M, 17M, 27M, 28M, & 28M.
Cap hits of 26.743M, 27M, 37M, 38M, 38M, & 3M (void year).

I think this would put him out of the range of extensions for Chase and Lamb who should be a bit more than Brown but not close to JJ.

Vikings’ Justin Jefferson reportedly wants to be paid like some QBs

“One source said Jefferson wants to be paid like some quarterbacks,” Salguero said for a piece published Tuesday. “At one point in the negotiation, he wanted to reach the $40M per year mark on an annual average, according to the source. It’s unclear if that is still where the talks are centered. Jefferson also wants to do a deal that includes fully guaranteed money that is at or close to $100M, another source told OutKick.”

Justin Jefferson Rumors: Vikings WR Could Set NFL Record for Non-QB in Next Contract

“When this deal gets done, and I think it will eventually get done, it is expected to make Justin Jefferson the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on Wednesday’s SportsCenter.
“So it will be a landmark type of a deal, and I think some of the other wide receivers are waiting to see where the Justin Jefferson deal comes in before they do a deal because they know the size and scope of this deal that the two sides have been working on throughout the course of the offseason.”

Justin Jefferson contract projection: How much will it cost Vikings for NFL’s highest-paid WR?

That points to Jefferson getting around $140 million over four years, which would take him through the duration of McCarthy’s rookie contract (minus the option year). Jefferson also could earn up to the first three years of his average annual salary in guarantees, up to about $105 million.

From J.J. McCarthy’s arm to Sam Darnold’s accuracy, 11 observations from Vikings OTAs

Offensive coordinator Wes Phillips complimented rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s absorption of the system. McCarthy, Phillips said, arrives at the TCO Performance Center each morning having studied the previous day’s installation and more. He also highlighted McCarthy’s arm talent.
“You see the juice that got when he lets go of the football,” Phillips said.
Nailor’s catch on the sideline may have been the most impressive play of the afternoon. His athleticism is undeniable. It’s why the Vikings staff was buzzing about the 2022 sixth-round pick last year around this time.
Four under-the-radar players worth keeping your eyes on after Tuesday’s showing? Safety Theo Jackson, wide receiver Trishton Jackson, wide receiver Lucky Jackson and undrafted free-agent edge rusher Gabriel Murphy.

Vikings Working on Mechanical Tweak With Rookie QB J.J. McCarthy

it’s notable that the Vikings are working with rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy on a specific element of his footwork. They’re having start with his left foot forward when he’s receiving snaps out of the shotgun, which is a change from what he did at Michigan.
“We’ve got him with the left foot up stance, which is a little different for him,” offensive coordinator Wes Phillips said on Tuesday. “So just kind of adjusting how you’re used to standing in the gun, with your left foot up or if you’re used to more of a square stance or some people are right foot up. Trying to get everybody kind of on the same page with how we do it and how it times up with all of our concepts. He’s doing well with it thus far.”

Vikings are confident in Blake Brandel as starting left guard

“I’m really excited about Blake (Brandel),” Phillips said. “I feel like he gets bigger every time I see him, he’s just a massive man on the inside. He’s in great shape, he’s always been very coachable. You talk about technique, fundamentals, footwork, hand placement, all the things that are critical for the O-line. One false step from an o-lineman could be catastrophe. It’s been very encouraging so far with him stepping into that starting spot on the left there and I think it’ll only grow from there. The more experience and the more reps he gets, he’s been a guy that any time he gets put in a game at several positions has come through for us. We haven’t forgotten that and I think he’s earned this opportunity.”

Rookie Draft Pick Made Bold Promise to Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah

The Vikings fielded an average coverage group last season, per Pro Football Focus. And it’s newcomer and rookie fourth-round pick Khyree Jackson who could turn heads this offseason as he fights for playing time.
The 6-foot-4 cornerback has already declared himself the top corner in the 2024 draft.
“You got the best corner, though. By far,” Jackson told Adofo-Mensah in video from the draft shared by the team on May 20. “I’m gonna show you, though. Day 1. Best corner by far.”
