Matthieu Pavon’s winning bag at Farmers Insurance Open features ‘world’s best driver’

on

Matthieu Pavon’s Farmers Insurance Open win was a tidy piece of advertising for PING.

Every club in his bag is supplied by the famous clubmakers, including their much-vaunted new driver.

There are plenty willing to dub the Ping G430 Max as the best driver in the world.

However, it wouldn’t be accurate to say that his driver propelled him to the title given his slightly underwhelming numbers off the tees at Torrey Pines.

Pavon’s short game was his strength this week and he will earn one of Ping’s golden putters and one in a relatively rare design as he uses the Ping Cadence TR Tomcat C putter.

He may be using a brand new driver, but his putter is a design originally released back in 2015.

The center-shafted mid-mallet is a distinctive style of putter and comes with a sight line and ball width alignment guides and adjustable head weights.

A golfer’s game may be enhanced by adding weight to the putter head in a number of ways. First of all, it could improve the putter’s feel. Golfers will benefit from the weight as it will assist them handle the clubhead more efficiently, giving them more control over the direction and pace of the ball.

Second, by lessening the degree of twisting in the stroke, it can increase uniformity. The putter head may be excessively light, which might cause the player’s hands and wrists to become overly active and result in inconsistent strokes. Lastly, by increasing stability and lessening the impact of little variations in the putting stroke, it can raise accuracy.

Pavon has great faith in the Ping i230 iron range deploying the clubs from 3-iron right up to his pitching wedge.

He also uses a further two Ping Si59 (52, 58) wedges.

The only equipment, discounting apparel, that Pavon uses that isn’t made by PING are the Titleist Pro V1 balls he keeps in his bag.
