Matt Cardona headed for surgery to repair a torn pec

on

The Indy God will be sidelined for a while as a result of the injury.

After wrestling his dream match against Adam Copeland on AEW Collision last month, and (kinda) got payback for an infamous stretch of his WWE run as Zack Ryder during WrestleMania weekend in Philadelphia… a bit of bad luck has befallen Matt Cardona.

Last night (April 16), Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp posted on X that “several promoters have noted that Matt Cardona has informed them he’s suffered a torn pec and will require surgery.”

A few hours later, Germany’s wXw confirmed that, posting that Cardona won’t be able to work their Drive of Champions event on June 1 as he “he has to take a break due to a torn pectoral muscle.”

Cardona’s turned himself into one of the biggest stars on the independent scene since his WWE release in 2020, capturing numerous titles including the NWA World Heavyweight and GCW World championships. Losing several months to recovering from pec surgery is a setback, but it shouldn’t be too much of one because of the work he’s already put in.

Join us in wishing Matt Cardona good health, and a speedy comeback.
