Bailey was a key part of the Bengals special teams.

Markus Bailey won’t be returning to the Cincinnati Bengals defense.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Bailey is signing a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

The 6-foot, 235-pound Bailey was a seventh-round draft choice out of Purdue in the 2021 NFL Draft. Since then, Bailey has become a key contributor on special teams who occasionally got playing time on defense, so he’ll be looking for a bigger role there with the Cardinals.

In 60 career games (four starts), Bailey has accounted for 73 total tackles, two tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, four pass deflections, and one QB hit. He was never getting a significant role in this defense so long as Germaine Pratt and Logan Wilson are healthy, while Akeem Davis-Gaither gets most of the linebacker snaps off the bench.

Best of luck to Bailey as he looks to carve out a bigger role in Arizona.
