Karolina Muchova is astonishing everyone at the US Open, with the level of play she’s been able to play in recent weeks. On Thursday, the Czech tennis player will face the home player Coco Gauff in the semifinals to treat herself to another important Grand Slam final. After the Roland Garros final, she was once again a protagonist at the US Open.
However, a match that was not easy for the 27-year-old, who conceded only one set (against Wang in the round of 16) during the competition. In the press conference she analyzed her wide victory with the Romanian Sorana Cirstea with a score of 6-0, 6-3:
In the press conference she highlighted: “Despite the result, the matches were very balanced. It doesn’t really reflect the equality that was on the court, it was very tough. I still had to fight for every ball. The break obtained on 2-0 in the second set proved to be fundamental, which allowed me to then defend my rounds of service.”
She also praised the magic of Arthur Ashe Stadium: “I felt comfortable from start to finish, had a great feeling from the baseline, but also at the net. I like this pitch and the atmosphere. I enjoyed it.”

Of her incredible mental strength, she said: “I just try to keep things easy without setting too many expectations. I always make life beautiful, even if it is very hard. This helps in tennis though. Some days are better and some are worse, but I always try to keep my mind clear, to be relaxed and to enjoy the sport.
I’m pretty stubborn. I no longer say what I want, but if I set something in my head I do everything possible to make it happen. I’m so in everything, competitive in all respects. It’s hard for me when I say something, it’s not easy to change my mind, I just do what I normally think.”
In the semifinal she did not want to reveal her key: “I will bet on my tennis. I don’t really want to say here what my tactics will be. I am happy to be able to play, I appreciate being here much more. Last year I suffered a lot from an injury , I lost here in the first round and couldn’t continue. I’m happy with how I’m competing now.”
