Jordynne Grace is a fighting champion, so she didn’t hesitate to put the Knockouts Championship on the line when Miyu Yamashita stepped up to the plate. That bout was the main event of Impact on Thursday night (May 2, 2024).

Yamashita’s credentials demand respect, thus no questions asked when TNA booked this as a title bout. She is considered the ace of Joshi wrestling in Japan. Yamashita held the Princess of Princess Championship four times in TJPW. She was ranked #12 in the PWI Women’s 150 for 2022. Grace had her work cut out to face such an accomplished challenger.

The match went roughly ten minutes with a strategy duel of power versus striking. Grace unleashed strongwoman moves early with a jackhammer suplex on the floor.

Yamashita wisely stalled on the outside to slow down the pace. That led to Yamashita executing a Death Valley Driver on the apron.

Yamashita increased her output with a barrage of strikes. Grace responded with a run of body slams. A double knockdown struck when Grace landed a spinning backfist and Yamashita connected on a high kick to the back of the head. The action carried over to the corner for a super back body drop from Grace. Yamashita went back to strikes to stun the champion. Grace powered up for the finish by blocking a skull kick then exploding for a spinning backfist. The Juggernaut closed with a half nelson driver to win.

The match was over, but the fighting wasn’t finished for the Knockouts champion. Grace will team with PCO against Steph De Lander and Big Kon at Under Siege on Friday night (May 3, 2024). SDL and Kon tried to get a head start by ambushing Grace. PCO made the save, and the heels retreated.
