AEW star Jon Moxley captured the IWGP United States Championship at Wrestle Kingdom. Moxley defeated Lance Archer in a vicious Texas Deathmatch, that included tables, chairs and young lions being used as weapons.
At one point Archer attempted to ‘suffocate’ Moxley with a plastic bag, forcing the referee to lift Moxley’s arm three times. The bout ended when Moxley hit his Death Rider DDT on Archer from the apron to the outside over 2 tables. Moxley was able to rise to his feet before the 10 count, Archer could not.
Moxley will now go on to face Juice Robinson on Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom. The AEW star will be defending his IWGP United States title, with Robinson looking to become a double champion, having captured the IWGP Tag Team titles earlier in the night alongside David Finlay.
