Jey Uso may have just made himself Uncle Howdy’s first target

A recent rumor indicated that WWE will be looking to have crowds in the United States replicate the way French fans participated in Jey Uso’s entrance at SmackDown and Backlash in Lyon earlier this month.

As that rumor made the rounds yesterday (May 12), one Twitter/X account asked the wrestle web if they were in favor of the use of lit-up phone screens as part of Main Event Jey’s walkouts. They referred to phones using a term that’s traditionally been associated with the late Bray Wyatt. Uso took that idea and ran with it when quote-tweeting their message, saying the “Fireflies” are his now and calling himself the “Yeeter of Worlds” in a play on Wyatt’s old “Eater of Worlds” nickname…

Whatever else you think of WWE’s allegedly passing the phone flashlight gimmick to Jey, or his playfully co-opting some Bray catchphrases in response to it — as a wrestling fan, you may have had the same thought I did when you saw Uso’s tweet.

That thought being that with Bo Dallas believed to be coming back soon as the Uncle Howdy character he created with his late brother Bray, Jey may have just painted a target on his back. Seeing as continuing Wyatt’s legacy seems to be a theme of WWE’s latest QR code-driven Easter Egg hunt teasing Howdy’s return, Unc (and whoever’s returning with him) probably won’t be happy with Uso’s tweet.

Could they feud over ownership of the “fireflies”? It wouldn’t be the strangest basis for a pro wrestling rivalry we’ve ever seen…
