Jessica Pegula reacts to addressing NFL’s Buffalo Bills in team practice

on

Jessica Pegula jokingly revealed she went to Buffalo Bills practice thinking she was just going to chill but then she ended up addressing the team. On Tuesday, Pegula was at the Bills practice facility. The Pegula family owns the Bills so the top-ranked American female player presumably stopped by to say hello to Bills players and wish them good luck ahead of the start of the 2023 NFL season. But when Bills head coach Sean McDermott noticed world No 3 Pegula was in the building, presumably, he thought the recent Montreal champion could have an inspiring impact on the team.

“When you show up to practice thinking you’re just going to chill then Sean tells you to talk to the team – so you talk to the team,” Pegula wrote on her Instagram Story.

Pegula visits the Bills ahead of the US Open

For a second consecutive year, Pegula will be the top-ranked American female tennis player at the US Open. This summer, Pegula has been doing well on hard courts as she won Montreal and also made the Washington semifinal. Going into this year’s US Open, 29-year-old Pegula explained she feels less pressure now because she is now well adjusted to her position in American women’s tennis.

“The US Open was my first experience being a top-ranked American, all that stuff but yeah I would just say now, I feel a little bit more comfortable in that role. I have been winning for the past year now so I am doing pretty well, so I think you just get over it a little bit and you become more comfortable. I think you also hit that peak so you don’t really care as much, you be like, ‘Okay I already did it, if it goes away, it’s like okay. I accomplished that and I can get back there,’ and that’s how I feel as I have been in the top 10 in the last year or year and half, I am not tied to it so I don’t feel a lot of pressure. I don’t know, you just do it, you get experienced and then it’s not that big of a deal,” Pegula recently said on the WTA Insider podcast.
