New England has five picks entering Day 3.

The New England Patriots enter the final day of the NFL Draft after addressing the three biggest needs on their roster: quarterback, wide receiver and offensive tackle. With five picks remaining, they can now turn their attention to other spots on the roster — or perhaps double-dip at the positions previously targeted.

Who might be on their radar? With some help from our very own Pats Pulpit Big Board and the Consensus Big Board from our friend Arif Hasan, let’s take a look at the top players still remaining for New England on Day 3 of this year’s draft.

(*denotes players listed on the Pats Pulpit Big Board)

Running Back

Potential targets: Jaylen Wright (Tennessee), Audric Estimé* (Notre Dame), Dylan Laube* (UNH), Braelon Allen (Wisconsin), Ray Davis (Kentucky), Bucky Irving (Oregon)

New England may opt for running back depth behind Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson in the finals rounds of this year’s draft. There’s an intriguing collection of talent remaining as just four have come off the board in the first 100 selections.

Wide Receiver

Potential targets: Troy Franklin* (Oregon), Brenden Rice* (USC), Javon Baker* (UCF), Devontez Walker* (UNC), Bub Means* (Pittsburgh), Johnny Wilson (FSU), Jamari Thrash (Louisville), Jalen Coker (Holy Cross)

After selecting Polk in round two, New England may not be done at the wide receiver position — especially with some serious talent left on the board. The Patriots held pre-draft visits with Franklin and Baker, while reuniting Walker and Maye may also be of interest.

Tight End

Potential targets: Ja’Tavion Sanders (Texas), Cade Stover (Ohio State), Theo Johnson* (Penn State), Tanner McLachlan (Arizona), Jared Wiley* (TCU), Jaheim Bell (FSU)

With just two tight ends coming off the board in round two and three, the Patriots might find value late at the position. Sanders is the top remaining option after a slide down consensus boards, but a group of project players follow that could be worthy of a selection.

Offensive Tackle

Potential targets: Javon Foster* (Missouri), Travis Glover* (Georgia State), Christian Jones (Texas), Tylan Grable (UCF), Frank Crum (Wyoming)

New England added tackle Caeden Wallace with their third pick in this year’s draft, but a double-dip may be worthwhile — especially as they attempt to flip Wallace from the right to left side. A late-round flier on Day Three makes sense at the position, with left tackle Travis Glover a potential option based on the amount of time New England spent with him the previous months.

Interior Offensive Line

Potential targets: Tanor Bortolini (Wisconsin), Christian Mahogany (Boston College), Mason McCormick (South Dakota State)

After adding three interior lineman in last years draft, the position is lower on New England’s list of needs. But, perhaps they find worthwhile value on Day Three especially with Cole Strange’s status unknown for the upcoming season after a suffering a season-ending knee injury. They spent time with BC’s Christian Mahogany on a local visit.

Defensive Line

Potential targets: Brandon Dorlus (Oregon), Mehki Wingo (LSU), Justin Eboigbe (Alabama), Gabe Hall (Baylor)

Another area New England may look to address in the later rounds as they have just two interior defensive lineman under contract past this season. The Patriots held Dorlus on a 30 visit and met with Hall at the Senior Bowl.

Edge

Potential targets: Austin Booker (Kansas), Brennan Jackson (Washington State), Mo Kamara (Colorado State), Gabriel Murphy (UCLA), Xavier Thomas (Clemson)

Similar to the defensive line, the Patriots will need edge rushers down the line with Matthew Judon and Josh Uche in contract years. Booker, who New England hosted on a visit, is the top pass rusher remaining after a breakout year for the Jayhawks.

Linebacker

Potential targets: Cedric Gray (UNC), Nathaniel Watson (Mississippi State)

Likely not a major need for the Patriots as they are set to return Ja’Whaun Bentley and Jahlani Tavai and added Sione Takitaki in free agency. But, Gray, who they saw at UNC’s Pro Day, is one of the top overall players on the board while they held Watson on a visit.

Cornerback

Potential targets: T.J. Tampa (Iowa State), Cam Hart* (Notre Dame), Kris Abrams-Draine (Missouri), Khyree Jackson (Oregon), Decamerion Richardson (Mississippi State), Myles Harden (South Dakota)

With their top offensive needs checked off, turning to the secondary would not be a surprise early on Day Three. There’s some intriguing options remaining as well and some New England showed interest in — Cam Hart (Senior Bowl), Kris Abrams-Draine (Pro Day), Decameron Richardson (30 visit).

Safety

Potential targets: Dadrion Taylor-Demerson* (Texas Tech), Jaden Hicks (Washington State), Jaylin Simpson (Auburn), Dominique Hampton (Washington), Sione Vaki* (Utah)

If not cornerback, New England might target the safety position to bolster the secondary. Taylor-Demerson is one of the top overall players available and fits the free safety mold they currently lack — as does Simpson and Vaki, who they met with at the Senior Bowl.
