Jaeger saves his lead in Farmers Insurance

In the third round of the Farmers Insurance Open, Stephan Jaeger managed to maintain his lead with a one-stroke advantage over his closest followers, Matthieu Pavon (72) and Nicolai Hojgaard. It was a challenging day in which Thomas Detry suffered a setback as he went from leading by one stroke on the 18th tee to falling two strokes behind the leader.

Jaeger, a German golfer who lives in Tennessee, had a round with a score of 1-over par, totaling 11-under par in 54 holes. Meanwhile, Matthieu Pavon (72) of France and Nicolai Hojgaard (73) of Denmark were at 10 under, while Detry, representing Belgium, was at 9 under after his round of 73.

Importantly, Jaeger has yet to achieve a victory on tour, nor have any of the other eight golfers who are within three shots of him in the standings. The tournament is scheduled to conclude Saturday to avoid conflicts with the NFL conference title games.

Detry, who was playing in the final group with Jaeger and Hojgaard, was at 11 under par on the 18th hole, a 543-yard par 5, against the backdrop of a stunning sunset. He had a 293-yard drive and a 162-yard second shot that left him just 92 yards from the hole.
