Here’s how NXT will find its first Women’s North American champion

on

Hint: the same way the men did it.

Back at Stand & Deliver on April 6, NXT General Manager Ava announced the creation and introduction of a women’s North American championship, promising a new champion would be crowned soon. Now we know exactly when that will be, and how they will go about finding the first titleholder.

During this week’s “Spring Breakin” special, Ava announced they would hold a combine featuring what sounds like the entire women’s roster. The 12 wrestlers who impress the most will move on to six qualifying matches, with the six winners advancing to NXT Battleground, where a ladder match will determine the new champion.

Jaida Parker, Sol Ruca, Ariana Grace, and even Michin showed up to make clear they would be coming for the title. This sure seemed like Michin coming to NXT for an extended stay, much like her fellow O.C. stablemates, the Good Brothers Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows.

Either way, this all starts next week and culminates at Battleground on June 9, 2024, at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
