Take-Two Interactive has narrowed down the release date for Grand Theft Auto 6. In a recent financial update, the company took the ‘2025’ release window and shortened it to ‘Fall 2025’, cutting down the potential period in which the game could be released by around 75%. This monumental piece of news now gives us a much better idea of when this record-breaking, hugely anticipated game will make it to the market.
Rumours were circulating recently regarding a delay of Grand Theft Auto 6 that might push it back to 2026. These claims have now proven to be unfounded, as Take-Two confirms that in Fall 2025, this open-world, epic adventure will finally surface.
One Step Closer
In the recent financial update from Take-Two Interactive, it was revealed that Grand Theft Auto 5 has officially sold more than 200 million copies. That’s over a decade, with the game having first emerged on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. That record brings the total sales of the GTA franchise to a whopping 425 million. It’s fast becoming the highest-selling franchise of all time, a record that GTA 6 will undoubtedly help it secure.
Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two, said:
‘As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion. Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI. We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase.’
No game on the horizon will have the impact of Grand Theft Auto 6. It’s highly expected that it’ll be the fastest-selling and highest-grossing game ever made, devastating even the record-setting Grand Theft Auto 5. Since the first trailer for GTA 6 was released in December, fans have been poring over every detail imaginable, trying to work out how big the map in GTA 6 will be and who the main characters are. It’s one of the most widely debated topics in the gaming world – and will be until GTA 6 is released in Fall 2025.
Additionally, it was confirmed that on June 7, Take-Two Interactive will reveal the next iteration in a ‘beloved franchise’. It’s not yet known what that’ll be, but it could be something like a new Borderlands title or a fresh Mafia game.
