Golf calendar: dates, program, tournaments

on

After a very successful 2023 in golf, we have entered a new year without the Ryder Cup. However, the wait for this season is frantic, as there are many new and unknowns, including the famous agreement between the PGA Tour and the LIV, whose precise contours are not yet known. In Italy, Francesco Molinari will try to return as a protagonist by playing mainly in the United States in the first part of the year and then dedicating himself more to the DP World Tour. There are 9 Italians who have obtained permission to participate in the DP World Tour, so there will certainly be many fun opportunities.

Golf, dates

The incoming world golf champion at number one in 2024 is American Scottie Scheffler, followed by Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy. However, one of the significant changes this year is the fact that Spanish golfer John Rahm will not be a regular participant in events. In fact, he accepted a great offer from the Arabs of LIV and decided to join the new circuit, despite the strong criticism he had previously addressed.
The golf team representing the United States – along with the international team (excluding European players) – will compete in the Presidents Cup, scheduled for late September in Canada. Furthermore, there will be “Signature Events”, tournaments with a smaller field (70-80 players) inspired by the LIV, which will debut on the PGA Tour.
No changes are expected for the four 2024 Majors, which will take place in April (Augusta Masters), May (PGA Championship), June (US Open) and July (Open Championship). The FedEx Cup play-offs are scheduled for the end of August, while the DP World Tour ends in November.
One of the highlights this year will obviously be the men’s golf competition, during the first week of August, where Olympic medals will be awarded on the course which hosted the Ryder Cup in 2018.
