Although Andrew Thomas was the Giants’ highest-graded player on offense in 2023, it took only a 77.1 overall mark to achieve the feat. Still, he has elite potential from what we saw in 2022.

New York’s defense was much better last year, as Dexter Lawrence earned an elite 92.9 grade with an 89.5 run-defense grade and a 92.6 pass-rush grade. The third spot goes to new Giant Brian Burns, whose impact will be felt immediately. He has earned a 70.0-plus PFF pass-rush grade in each of the past four seasons.

Malik Nabers: Charting a path to NY Giants legacy on advice from icons | The Record

“I walked into a restaurant in Summit, New Jersey, the other day and a couple guys in the back corner, they start yelling, ‘Cruuuz,’” former Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz recalled with a laugh this week. “That’s going to be with me forever. It’s all that comes with playing in this town, playing at a high level and helping bring home that Lombardi. That sets players apart, brings a different aura to guys who have won that championship.”

Cruz paused before adding: “That’s what is out there for Malik Nabers to achieve as a Giant. It’s all there to make his own legacy and be the next great one. I think he has all the tools, man, to be great.”

The receiver was drafted by the franchise last month, but still hasn’t explored much of New York City. “They told me I gotta go into New York City, into Manhattan and try the pizza, but I never been there yet,” Nabers said. He added that he’ll make a trip into Manhattan “Whenever we don’t have practice.”

Must-watch games for all 32 NFL teams: Matchups worth clearing schedule for in 2024 | The Athletic

New York Giants: vs. Eagles, Week 7. Saquon Barkley’s homecoming. Barkley did what was best for his career, and you can’t fault a player for that, but losing a fan-favorite to your hated rival was the nightmare scenario for Giants fans. And maybe even for coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen. They let him walk, and maybe that will end up being the right decision, but if Barkley goes berserk in Philadelphia and the Giants’ offense struggles to get off the ground again, it won’t be a good look for the coach and GM.

John Mara talks NFL rule changes: Hip-drop ban gets ‘very strong’ support | Giants.com

“It’s not a pretty sight,” Mara said. “It was causing serious injuries, and in many cases, there was no reason for it, but the defender had learned to use that tactic effectively to get the runner down. It just was not something we were comfortable continuing with. I think in the first year, you’re not going to see a lot of flags on it, because the officials hopefully will take the view that they’re not going to call it unless they’re absolutely certain that they see it. However, if it’s picked up by the league office during the week, there will be discipline imposed. I think that’s the best way to start with this particular rule change.”

Giants legend Eli Manning ‘definitely’ wants to buy an NFL team | NJ.com

Former Giants quarterback Eli Manning’s retirement plans could involve ownership of an NFL team. Manning — and his management company Brand Velocity Group — may soon utilize a new NFL rule that would allow private equity firms to buy up to 30% of an NFL team, according to Bloomberg.
