Gianni Infantino cleared in private jet flight case

Accused of unfair management and a potential fraud against FIFA in 2017, regarding a private jet flight from Suriname to Geneva, Gianni Infantino was cleared on Thursday. Several testimonies tipped the scales in favor of the FIFA president, who further demonstrated “irrefutable” that his trip complied with the organisation’s regulations on the expenses of senior officials.

In a communicated published this Thursday, the world football body welcomed the classification of this procedure and recalls that its ethics committee had come to the same conclusion in August 2020. “FIFA welcomes the decision taken by the Public Prosecutor of the Swiss Confederation (MPC) to close the procedure against Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, related to the chartering of a private jet for a flight from Suriname to Switzerland in 2017. Since the beginning of the procedure, the FIFA President has been at the full disposal of the Swiss authorities.
