Fans are excited to see Broncos UDFA running back Blake Watson this year

When training camp arrives, Denver Broncos are most excited to see running back Blake Watson out of all their undrafted free agent signings.

Yesterday, I covered how Denver Broncos fans generally believe the team came out a winner from the 2024 NFL Draft. In that same SB Nation Reacts survey, I also asked which Broncos undrafted free agents that fans are most excited to see in training camp this year. With 44% of the vote, Memphis running back Blake Watson led the way.

Blake Watson was one of our top three Broncos UDFA’s to watch for, but coming in second on that list was Wyoming offensive lineman Frank Crum. It’s not hard to presume that the drafting of Notre Dame’s Audric Estimé and adding Watson is an incitement on the 2023 running back room. While I do think Javonte Williams is safe to play out the final year of his rookie deal, I think both Samaje Perine and Jaleel McLaughlin will need to beat out these two rookies in camp to keep their jobs this year.

As for Crum, the Broncos did not draft any offensive tackles again this year and haven’t drafted one since Garett Bolles in 2017. If Crum, who is 6’8” and 313 pounds, can develop into a starter-level player then that might save Denver from having to expend more draft capital on tackles in the future if Bolles ends up moving on at some point.
