AEW posted a pair of backstage promos as fallout to Dynamite (Apr. 17, 2024) that are worth watching for character development. Deonna Purrazzo has a problem with Thunder Rosa, and Shane Taylor Promotions explains their winning mentality.

After Deonna Purrazzo defeated Mariah May, Toni Storm stomped the Virtuosa. Thunder Rosa ran out to even the odds, and Purrazzo didn’t take kindly to Thunder butting in. Now, Purrazzo has a problem with Thunder. The Virtuosa warned La Mera Mera that she has no hesitation confronting her face to face.

Ooh, this beef is getting juicy. Thunder was rude last week getting uppity at Purrazzo just trying to help, so it makes sense for Purrazzo to return the same disdain. Icing on the cake was the two-handed fongool gesture from Purrazzo in that promo. She isn’t messing around. This story is selling toward a fight I want to see.

Shane Taylor Promotions have been on the losing side often, however, their mentality is to win or learn. They take pride in standing tall in the end laying out opponents after the match. Taylor warned the locker room that they might win the match, but STP won’t lose the fight. Rumble, bad man, rumble.

I like this attitude from STP. Those talking points make them come across like badasses instead of losers, as the record often reflects. It provides a reason for fans to get invested in their growth. That tough talk has me yearning for faction warfare against the likes of Los Ingobernables, House of Black, and so on.
