Detroit showed up in droves for the 2024 NFL Draft, smashing the previous attendance record set in 2019.

The final estimates are out, and Detroit was an absolute hit as the venue for the 2024 NFL Draft. After smashing the Day 1 record with an estimated 275,000 people and following it up with around 220,000 on Friday, the NFL announced that the grand total of attendees for draft weekend in Detroit was 775,000, setting a new all-time record for attendance at the NFL Draft. The previous mark was set by the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville, which housed an estimated 600,000 over the course of three days.

All weekend, the draft festivities in Detroit have been something to behold. My personal favorite being when Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold took the stage just seconds after the Detroit Lions selected him 24th overall.

The amount of people crammed into the gorgeous Campus Martius plaza has produced breathtaking photos, rave reviews, and showcased the true football passion of this city.

Seeing so many Lions fans congregated in one place—many of them sporting their new, slick jerseys—can’t help but conjure up visions of what this city will do for the inevitable Super Bowl parade.

Anyways, fantasies aside, this was an incredibly successful weekend for the city of Detroit, and we should take a lot of pride in what the city and its people have accomplished over the past year to prepare for this event. Congratulations to everyone who had a hand in planning for the event, and the hundreds of thousands of Detroiters who showed up for the city.
