The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys face off on a special “Monday Night Football” edition on Saturday night. It’s a battle between two of the top teams the NFC has to offer. And while the Lions have already clinched a divisional title and a home playoff game, this is a great opportunity for them to make a run at the NFC’s top seed while sending a message to the rest of the conference that they’re for real.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, need this game pretty badly. They play much better at home, so if they’re able to win the NFC East and earn a two or three seed, it would be huge for their postseason. Unfortunately for them, they’re a game behind the Philadelphia Eagles and no longer control their own destiny. But if they win out (vs. Detroit, @ Commanders), they will have put themselves in a position to win the division if the Eagles slip up.
Regardless, the winner of this game will display to the rest of the conference—and the rest of the league—that they are going to be a team to reckon with when the postseason starts in just two weeks.
