STATEMENT FROM THE BRITISH BOXING CONTROL BOARD

By a notice dated October 17, 2022, the BBBofC Board convened Mr. Conor Benn to attend a hearing to address allegations of misconduct pursuant to Rule 25.1.1. The hearing took place on 21 October 2022. On the morning of the hearing, Mr. Benn voluntarily renounced his license with BBBofC. In accordance with its Rules and Regulations, the Board determined the allegations after the hearing at which Mr. Benn was legally represented. The allegations of misconduct against Mr. Benn were confirmed.

STATEMENT BY THE CONOR BENN TEAM

Conor’s focus right now is solely on clearing his name.

However, the Board has made it extremely difficult for Conor to focus on doing that because of its conduct of an unfair and biased procedure. In such circumstances, Conor decided not to renew its license (which had expired). Conor told the Board that if he did not accept that his license had expired, then he would resign it.

He strongly refutes the allegation of misconduct (which, for the avoidance of doubt, is *not* related to the VADA affair) and firmly believes that an independent tribunal will come to a completely different conclusion.

At the appropriate time, Conor will speak about this and the doping allegation, as far as possible while legal proceedings are ongoing. In the meantime, he reiterates, in no uncertain terms, that he is a clean athlete.
