Tony Pollard made a huge impact on the next offensive possession.

He had four carries for 31 yards on the drive and ended it with a 1-yard run. Giving the lead back to Dallas at 14-10.

Donovan Wilson picked off Sam Howell with less than two minutes to go in the first half.
Doing so gave the Cowboys a chance to put the hammer down on Washington.
A beautiful offensive drive at the end of the half was capped off by a Prescott touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb.
The Cowboys took a 21-10 lead into the break.
The Cowboys would get the 2 seed and the NFC East title with a win, yet the Eagles pretty much gave that to Dallas in the first half against the Giants.
Philly pulled their starters after falling behind 24-0 against the Giants.

It is a good time to be a Cowboys fan.
It took the Cowboys a few drives to right the ship and re-take the lead as the second quarter wound down. They hit the coveted double-double with touchdown drives on either side of the half, and a Peyton Hendershot punt block helped Prescott & Co. open a 25-point lead (with his fourth scoring pass of the day and his 36th touchdown throw of the season, probably enough to finish as the league leader) before finally pulling the starters in the final quarter.
The win didn’t come without a cost, as cornerback Stephon Gilmore exited early with a shoulder injury and did not return. While the extent of the injury remains to be revealed, it’s sure to be a major concern with as the playoffs get underway.
The Cowboys will have the week to determine how injuries to Gilmore and Tyler Smith (not to mention Zack Martin’s last illness) might impact their postseason prep. But for now, America’s Team can relish an NFC East crown, the No. 2 seed in the conference, and an unmatched third straight 12-win season, all thanks to a commanding win over their longtime rivals.

First Quarter
After the Dallas defense stopped the Commanders on fourth-and-1 at the Cowboys’ 31-yard line, Prescott and the offense wasted no time in reaching the end zone on their first possession. The quarterback completed all six of his pass attempts in the series, the last of which was a 3-yard loft to Jalen Tolbert in the end zone for the game’s first points.
And when the Commanders’ next snap saw cornerback Jourdan Lewis strip the ball from the hands of running back Brian Robinson and recover the fumble himself, the Cowboys were back in business at the Washington 31-yard line.
But Dallas couldn’t get any closer than the 14 before bringing out Brandon Aubrey for a 32-yard field goal attempt. Instead, his kick was blocked and then picked up by Jace Whittaker, who returned the ball 66 yards to the Cowboys’ 20-yard line.
The block was the first failed field-goal attempt for Aubrey this season, snapping his NFL record 35 consecutive field goals made to start a career.

Quite a connection
Dak Prescott to CeeDee Lamb has been the most prolific connection in the league this season.
The two capped it off in style.
Lamb finished with 13 receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown. That will give him 135 receptions for the season to lead the NFL. The last Cowboys receiver to lead the NFL in receptions?
None. Lamb is the first. And one other thing. He scored a touchdown in his final nine games of the season, the longest streak by a receiver in the league since AJ Green back in 2012.
And Prescott? He threw four touchdown passes, giving him 36 for the season. He’s poised to become the first quarterback in the Cowboys rich history to lead the NFL in touchdown passes alone.
Roger Staubach and Roman Gabriel tied for the league lead with 23 touchdown passes in ‘73.

It is officially playoff time.
What seed are the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs?
The Cowboys will be the No. 2 seed in the NFC. That didn’t become a possibility until last week when the Eagles lost to the lowly Cardinals. Of course, Dallas needed to hold up its end of the bargain, and they did just that with a narrow win over the Lions in Week 17 and a victory in Washington on Sunday.
Who will the Dallas Cowboys play in the playoffs?
The Cowboys will host the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the playoffs. It’s a familiar playoff foe for Dallas, but Aaron Rodgers won’t be on the other side. Instead it’ll be Rodgers’ successor, Jordan Love, quarterbacking the Packers. While Love is playing some outstanding ball, Green Bay is a young team with a Swiss-cheese defense. They are without question a better draw for the Cowboys than the Rams.

The early news is hopeful for Stephon Gilmore.
But the Cowboys lost cornerback Stephon Gilmore in the process as Dallas’ veteran cornerback suffered an apparent arm injury against Washington and missed most of the game.
Thankfully for the Cowboys, however, he himself said he will be back for the Wild Card round when Dallas plays at home next week.
Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy announced on Sunday evening from FedEx Field that Gilmore is good to go against the Packers.
“He told me he was fine,’’ McCarthy said, “and he’d be ready to go.”
