Colts schedule targeted to drop on May 15th

The Indianapolis Colts don’t have to guess who they will play in 2024. That information has been known for quite some time already as the league predictably rotates conference and league opponents. The biggest remaining question is when the Colts will meet these opponents and in what capacity, mainly, will there be any primetime contests? Per CBS, that date is quickly approaching.

According to the Sports Business Journal, NFL teams have been informed in a memo that the 2024 schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 15, which makes it the latest schedule release since at least 1990.

Although it is still technically a tentative date, this feels fairly certain. The schedule is always littered with incredible match ups. Revenge games, homecomings, bitter rivalries, etc. While there are many to look forward to for the Colts, there are several that stand out.

The Colts will get an early look at the first overall pick in Caleb Williams as he is slated to travel to Lucas Oil with the Bears. Since they are playing the NFC North this year, the red hot Lions will also play in Indy. With a not-so-revamped secondary, will the Colts be able to slow the Lions explosive offensive attack down?

As the team heads out on the road, two games catch my eye. First is a rematch with the Vikings. These teams last met in 2022 which saw the Colts melt down in epic fashion, coughing up a 33-0 lead. The Colts have fared well against the Vikings historically, but that is one they would like to flip the script on from the last outing. The second game is a trip to visit the Patriots. Drake Maye could be the starter and although things have changed mightily over the years between the two teams, Foxboro has been a house of horrors for the Colts. They will look to continue to exorcise a decade plus worth of demons.

Yes, the dates and times are nearly here. It will be exciting to see when the Colts play and get to break down the matchups in more detail. The schedule release starts to make the upcoming season that much more of a reality.
