Chargers’ hilarious Sims schedule release video features a several references to the Browns

Check out all the fun easter eggs.

The Los Angeles Charges’ social media/web team are pretty creative, and that included their schedule release video this year. In the video, they used The Sims to showcase all of their opponents from Weeks 1-17, which include your Cleveland Browns since the Chargers will travel to Cleveland in Week 9. The entertaining video is below:

The reference to the Browns begins at the 1:20 mark, and include the following:

  • It beings with showing a dark building called the “Factory of Sadness.” A sign on the adjacent building reads, “At least we’re not Detroit,” a callback to Mike Polk’s infamous video.
  • Once the camera flashes inside, you see a bunch of humans dressed in orange and brown elf costumes, assembling things.
  • There are also boxes in the background of former Browns quarterbacks, with labels like “Mayfield, Weeden, McCown, Couch, Hoyer, Kizer, Kessler.”
  • You can also spot a Daily News clipping on the wall that reads, “We just lost to some elves,” a reference to what Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase said after last year’s home-opening loss to the Browns.
  • There is also a poster hanging up of LeBron James hoisting an NBA Championship trophy when the Cavs won it all in 2016.
  • Another banner also shows “2017 winless season.” God, I still can’t believe we were that bad in recent memory…

The fun doesn’t end there. In Week 11 against the Bengals, the Sims continue mocking Chase by having a 7-11 store — but on the outside, there is a “missing” poster featuring Brownie the Elf, asking, “Have you seen this man? Please, information needed.”

The other reference to Cleveland is Week 6 involving the Denver Broncos. At first, when I saw the name “Jeudy” on the back of a Broncos jersey, I thought that someone made a mistake for an out-dated reference. But then it clicked — it shows Broncos head coach Sean Payton leading three players — Jerry Jeudy, Justin Simmons, and Russell Wilson to “Ballmart” and leading them to the store’s returns center.
