Casper Ruud: Rafael Nadal is a fun guy, enjoys a good glass of wine

Norwegian tennis star Casper Ruud says Rafael Nadal has “a switch” as he can easily go from an intense on-court personality to a really fun guy off the court.

Ruud, 23, grew up watching and idolizing Nadal.

For this year, Nadal wanted to organize a Latin America Tour.

Nadal invited Ruud to be his opponent during his Latin America Tour and the Norwegian gladly accepted the Spaniard’s offer.

During their time in Latin America, Ruud got a chance to get to know Nadal more personally.

Ruud: Nadal is a fun guy, enjoys a good glass of wine

“It’s great, but he has a sort of switch. He switches on and off on his personal side. I’m not going to go into all the details or whatever, but it’s really fun to be around. He’s not as serious and dedicated as he is on court. He likes to have fun. He dances around a little bit and enjoys a good glass of wine, for example, for dinner. I don’t think he will be bothered me telling this, but he’s a fun guy. We had a lot of fun and he has sort of taken me under his wings a little bit with the [Rafael Nadal] Academy and it was fun to be very close to him. Of course, we were in the same hotels all the time, flying around together, so we got to see him up close more and it was fun. He’s a really relaxed guy,” Ruud said on Ruud Talk, per Eurosport.

Earlier this year, Ruud made his first Grand Slam final at the French Open.

In his first Grand Slam final, Ruud took on his idol Nadal.

Unfortunately for Ruud, it didn’t go well for him since Nadal claimed a comfortable 6-3 6-3 6-0 win.

Ruud and Nadal met for the second time on the main level at the ATP Finals as the Spaniard again beat the Norwegian.
