Caroline Wozniacki is the truly beautiful miracle of the US Open 2023

on

Caroline Wozniacki is wowing  crowd, fans and insiders at the US Open 2023, despite the fact that she’s been back on the court for a very short time, and after about three years of hiatus from official competitive tournaments.

The Dane also managed to win in the third round challenge against the American Jennifer Brady, after losing the first set, and she treated herself to an interesting battle in the round of 16 with Coco Gauff.

A sporting miracle, but up to a certain point. Caroline is a former world no.1 and a former Grand Slam champion: a miracle yes, but we must not forget that she is a great champion. Wozniacki’s come back, her victories at the US Open, are a commercial for tennis: always believing in yourself, having fun but facing situations with professionalism and seriousness. The beautiful miracle of the US Open 2023.

Caroline’s words in the press conference

At the press conference, the 33-year-old explained her feelings: “It was a great game, I was playing better as it went on. Down 0-2 in the second set, I decided I wouldn’t make any more mistakes, what I had to do was start moving my feet better, looking for my shots. This is a big step for me, even if you never know how your body will react after so many years away and not playing a long game.”

The Danese will play the second week of the New York Grand Slam: “Honestly, this doesn’t surprise me. I’ve always had confidence, it just takes time to get back into the rhythm of the races, because I was already training well, as well as working on my physical condition to get back in shape. With all the experience of my career I knew where I was, now I feel like I’m getting better day by day. Would I have been surprised to lose in the first round? No. Would I be surprised to keep winning? Not even.”

About her special bond with Serena Williams, she explained: “She talks to her all the time, even though she’s very busy. She told me she watched my game. Last year I got pregnant but I worked for ESPN and also commented on her games. I really wanted to support her at her last tournament, so that was special.”

Caroline is ready to face the next match of the competition: “Now I don’t know how long I will play, I get this question all the time but I have no idea. Now I’m enjoying the moment, playing on these big courts in front of a big crowd is something very special, something I will always cherish.”
