Cameron Young extended his lead with a -14

At Dubai Desert Classic 2024, during the third round of the tournament, the American Cameron Young extended his lead with a total score of -14 after 54 holes. Tomorrow, Young will look to capture his first career Rolex Series title, as well as his first DP World Tour and PGA Tour success. The competition will be fierce, with Rory McIlroy and Adrian Meronk chasing within two shots.

Young finished his third round with 71 strokes, remaining one under par. Despite a promising start with a birdie on the first hole, he faced some difficulties with a double bogey on the seventh, a missed shot on the eighth and a tee shot into the rough on the ninth. However, Young gained three strokes in the final nine holes, maintaining his lead.

Adrian Meronk and Rory McIlroy are the main contenders at -12, two shots off the lead. Poland’s Meronk finished the third round with 70 shots, while McIlroy was the star of the day with an incredible 63, which moved him up 22 places in the rankings.

McIlroy displayed an extraordinary level of golf with 7 birdies and an eagle, bringing his score to -9 on a challenging course. He started with a birdie on the first hole and continued to hit the green impressively on the first nine holes, finishing in -5 on the most difficult holes on the course. Tomorrow he will star in his last start and could be the favorite to win.

After the top three, there is a three-shot gap in the rankings, with Rasmus Højgaard and Haotong Li paired in fourth position at -9. Joaquin Niemann is in sixth place at -8 for the tournament. Among the group of players in seventh place at -7 are Thorbjorn Olesen, Alex Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood. The top-10 is rounded out by a large group at -6, including Nicolai Hojgaard, Aaron Cockerill, Masahiro Kawamura, Callum Shinkwin, Alejandro Del Rej, Adam Scott and Scott Jamieson.

Unfortunately, the day was difficult for Guido Migliozzi, who had problems in the first seven holes with three bogeys, a double bogey and two birdies. He finished the day with a total of 75 (+3), slipping to 51st place in the overall rankings.
