Draft analysts see Giants as having lost ground in the division

NFL Network analysts Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah recently released their post-draft power rankings for the NFC East on Path to the Draft, and the New York Giants were at the bottom of the list.

The Giants made several significant additions this offseason. They have signed free-agent offensive linemen Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor. They also traded for Pro Bowl pass rusher Brian Burns and made key draft selections such as LSU’s Malik Nabers and Minnesota’s Tyler Nubin.

Despite the moves, the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders are in a better position heading into 2024, according to the pair of analysts.

“It’s all about the depth and how you’re going to utilize the talent, and the Eagles are well positioned,” Brooks said. They have veterans in place, young guys ready to assume prominent roles, and they just continue to tie it all together to make it work.”

“The Washington Commanders are interesting,” Brooks added. “This is a team that has added veteran presence, a bunch of what I call hard-headed guys to go with a young nucleus of guys they’re going to bring in that also have those core ingredients. When you look at Jayden Daniels and Jer’Zhan Newton, experienced players and winning pedigree do it the right way when it comes to how they go about their business. I think this is a more mature and talented team, which is why they were content.”

“When you look at the Philadelphia Eagles, I thought their biggest issue last year, if you watched them play, was secondary,” Jeremiah said. “So instead of just spreading all your resources around, I love the fact that they attacked that secondary with those two corners. You go out and get Quinyon Mitchell, come back, trade up, and get Cooper DeJean. So, they addressed their biggest need. Will Shipley coming in there as a nice compliment to Saquon Barkley. I know Buck was a big fan of Will Shipley’s game, so they’ve done a nice job.”

“I like what Washington did,” Jeremiah mentioned. You have a rookie quarterback that they’ll ease into, and I think they will be a much better team in the second half of the season than they are in the first.”
