This win adds to Koepka’s impressive resume as he prepares for the PGA Championship, the second men’s Major of 2024 scheduled from May 16 to 19 in Louisville, Kentucky. The 34-year-old from West Palm Beach will be defending the title he won in 2023, as well as in 2018 and 2019, making him a formidable contender for the upcoming tournament.

Koepka’s triumph in the individual competition earned him a hefty prize of $4,000,000 out of a total prize pool of $20,000,000. His dominance on the “separatist” green circuit has now matched the records of Dustin Johnson and Talor Gooch, showcasing his consistency and skill in the sport.

Despite his remarkable achievement, Spanish golfer Jon Rahm, a former world number one and one of the highest-paid athletes globally, settled for a 10th place finish with a score of “-9”, marking his seventh top-10 finish of the season.

Golf was a passion for him long before he became a household name in the sport. Hailing from Florida State University in Tallahassee, he showcased his talent as an amateur, clinching victory in three tournaments and earning All-America honors thrice. Despite a setback at the U.S. Open in 2012, where he failed to make the cut, he turned professional later that summer, stepping onto the Challenge Tour.

His ascent in the professional circuit was swift and relentless. With wins at the Challenge de Catalunya and the Montecchia Open, he stamped his authority early on. The following season, he left an indelible mark by securing victory at the Challenge de España, setting a record-breaking score of 260 (-24) and triumphing by a staggering 10 strokes. His stellar performance earned him a spot on the European Tour for the remainder of 2013 and into 2014.

The year 2014 was a watershed moment in his career. With a victory at the Turkish Airlines Open and notable finishes at the Dubai Desert Classic and the Omega European Masters, he announced his arrival on the international stage. His remarkable rookie year culminated in an eighth-place finish in the Race to Dubai standings, earning him the coveted title of “Rookie of the Year.”

His momentum continued to build in the following years. In 2015, he clinched his first PGA Tour title at the Phoenix Open and delivered impressive performances at the Open Championship and the PGA Championship. A major breakthrough came at the U.S. Open in 2017, where he secured his first Major title, matching Rory McIlroy’s tournament record.

Despite facing adversity, including a wrist surgery and subsequent withdrawal from the Masters, he showcased resilience and determination. He successfully defended his U.S. Open title in 2018, becoming the first to do so since Curtis Strange in 1989, and claimed his third Major victory at the PGA Championship. His stellar achievements propelled him to the top of the world rankings after winning the CJ Cup.

In May 2019, he reclaimed the top spot in the rankings with a victory at the PGA Championship, followed by a triumph at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational, his first World Golf Championships title. Recognized for his outstanding performance, he was named the PGA Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. Despite setbacks due to a knee injury, he continued to dominate the sport, securing victories at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February 2021 and clinching his third PGA Championship title in May 2023, joining an elite group of players to win five Major Tournaments.
