The Denver Broncos announced their rookie jersey numbers today and Bo Nix will get number 10 after all.

We have been asking for it and the Denver Broncos finally gave us an answer. Earlier today, the team announced the numbers their rookie class will be wearing moving forward.

9NEW’s Denver’s Mike Klis broke the news that Broncos first-round pick Bo Nix would indeed get the number ten from recently acquired Zach Wilson. In a classy move, the former second-overall pick reached out to the Broncos’ equipment room after the team selected Nix and told them he was willing to change his number and give 10 to Nix.

Nix had worn No. 10 all his life. He wore No. 10 at Pinson Valley (Alabama) High School and No. 10 at both Auburn and Oregon. Even his dad, Pat Nix, wore No. 10 as Auburn’s starting quarterback in the mid-1990s.

Wilson either knew this or became aware of it, and shortly after the Broncos selected another quarterback in the first round, he proactively reached out to the Broncos’ equipment room to let them know he was willing to give Nix jersey No. 10 if he wanted it.

Nix did indeed want the number 10 as it has been his number throughout his career and Wilson changed to the number 4 while Jarrett Stidham is now number 8.

As for the rest of the rookies, wide receiver Troy Franklin took number 16, cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine took 31, running back Audric Estime took 37, edge rusher Jonah Elliss took 52, interior offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo took 66, and wide receiver DeVaughn Vele took Tim Patrick’s old 81 which seems fitting.

Outside of Nix, the rest of these numbers could change after the roster cutdown period at the end of August, so we will have to wait and see until then. However, we can safely buy our Bo Nix number 10 jerseys now if we wanted too.
