Blacklist Renejay at M5: We’re slowly reaching our dreams as a team. We’re closer.”

Renejay “Renejay”Barcase from Blacklist International grasped how close they are from winning the gold after his team bested Indonesia’s GeekFam in four games in the lower bracket quarterfinals of the M5 World Championship.

Speaking in the post match interview, Renejay looked back on his team’s journey after battling their way through in the lower bracket. Blacklist fell down from the upper bracket after suffering a 3-2 loss from Onic Esports last week before facing GeekFam today, Dec. 15.

“We are really thankful because all of our sacrifices since MPL were worth it. We’re slowly reaching our dreams as a team. We’re closer.”

Renejay was also asked about his thoughts when he saw known Mobile Legends Filipino content creator and personality Naser “Dogie” Mollazehi watching him in person while being emotional.

Notably, he was the one who discovered Renejay’s talent in playing MLBB and became his mentor in his early days as a pro player and streamer.

“Boss D (Dogie), next time don’t cry or I’ll also be emotional and maybe lose the game.”

All Philippine finals still on the cards

Blacklist won three straight games after losing the first one in this series against GeekFam. Renejay was hailed the MVP for games two and four where he used Blacklist’s signature healer hero Estes in the closing game. Stephen “Sensui” Castillo, on the other hand, bagged the MVP honors in game three after his Akai pick dished out multiple kills and assists for his team.

Renejay and his squad will continue their M5 journey, setting up a match against the winner of Deus Vult from Russia and Cambodia’s See You Soon for the lower bracket semifinals. The hope for an all-Filipino finals is still alive since Blacklist’s fellow Philippine representative AP.Bren already secured their spot in the upper bracket semifinals.
