How to bet this weekend’s games

We’ve got a full weekend slate on our hands with three football games on Saturday! They’re not the most interesting games but they are professional football teams playing on a Saturday and I’m here for it. We’ll focus the spotlight on a suddenly interesting game for the Bears on Sunday.

Can the Cleveland Browns really make a run? Most teams with the level of injuries the Browns are dealing with would write off the season as a lost cause and start looking forward to next year. Cleveland signed 38-year old Joe Flacco to take the helm for the rest of the season. He’ll be operating behind an offensive line down three tackles and, depending on the availability of running backs Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt, may not have much hope in the running game, particularly against this stout Bears defensive front. The Browns are 8-5 and in the top spot in the AFC wildcard picture. They finish the year with the Texans, Jets, and Bengals so while this game may not be a must win, it would go a long way in sewing up a playoff spot.

The Chicago Bears, on the other hand, are currently one of the healthiest teams in football. They did just lose Yannick Ngakoue to a broken ankle, but Ngakoue is one of the few Bears to land on season-ending injured reserve. The only other starter currently in question for the game is Jaquan Brisker, the Bears safety who recorded 17 tackles a week ago. The Bears come into this one winners of their last two and three of their last four. It’s the first time in the Eberflus era that the Bears have managed back to back victories. They will close out the year against the Cardinals and Falcons at home before traveling to the Packers. Chicago has a chance to sneak into the playoffs if they run the table so every game is a must-win for them. It’s a fascinating stage.

The NFL is a week to week league and sometimes we’re a little slow to adapt to the changes. Cleveland getting three points against the Bears here is interesting because just on the injury report alone, you might expect the Bears to be considered an even match. The Bears defense is playing well enough right now to continue their run against Flacco and a beat up offensive line. Let’s see if they can’t keep the good times rolling.
