The Bengals meetings are coming to an end with the draft coming up, but there are still reports slowly coming out of who they’ve met with

The Cincinnati Bengals have a solid defensive end room for 2024 with the hopeful ascension of Myles Murphy. There’s also the potential for Joseph Ossai to make a significant impact if he can stay healthy.

However, they could always look to add to such an important position, and they seem to be doing just so with their latest meeting.

Per Aaron Wilson, the Bengals had a visit with Arkansas defensive end Trajan Jeffcoat.

Jeffcoat spent his first four seasons of college football at Missouri, which included a First-Team All-SEC season in 2020. He transferred to Arkansas and was a preseason All-SEC selection. He’s totaled 15.5 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, and 100 tackles in his career.

Jeffcoat is an older prospect, as he will turn 25 during his rookie year due to taking an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19. He has shown some flashes but is far from a finished product, so the Bengals may have wanted to meet with him to get an idea of his potential.

As a prospect, Jeffcoat has a decent chance of not being picked, and the Bengals may attempt to be the team to sign him as a priority free agent following the NFL Draft. He figures to be more of a practice squad candidate in Year 1, but with the Bengal’s defensive end room, he could have a much-improved chance of making the team in 2025 with both Cam Sample and Joseph Ossai being free agents.

The Bengals typically like players with builds and athleticism like Jeffcoat, he may not have the tape or production of a top prospect, but there is enough there to mold that it makes sense to take a chance on him as a late-round pick or undrafted free agent signing.
