The pick is in.

With the 18th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Georgia Bulldogs offensive tackle Amarius Mims.

Coming into the draft, offensive and defensive tackles were viewed as the team’s biggest needs, so it came as no surprise to see the former be the pick in Round 1.

According to the consensus big board, Mims was the 22nd-best prospect in this draft, so good value with the 18th pick.

Mims comes to the NFL with injury concerns. He suffered a high-ankle sprain against South Carolina midway through the 2023 season and underwent tightrope surgery. He ended up playing just 297 offensive snaps in seven games for the season. He also suffered a minor hamstring strain at the NFL Combine.

However, when healthy, Mims has been a dominant right tackle, as evidenced by the fact he’s surrendered just six hurries, no sacks, and no QB hits in 803 college snaps, all coming at right tackle.

Mims figures to be a backup in 2024 behind Trent Brown, then take over his spot in 2025 when Brown hits free agency.
