The former corner thinks people are forgetting how good the TCU product was in 2022.

The 2024 Draft was all about untapped potential for the Cincinnati Bengals.

And fifth round selection Josh Newton could have a lot of that.

The 149th pick, a cornerback out of TCU, had an “awesome” 2022 season, according to Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema.

“He was a fringe first-round, late second-round player for me going into [last year], and I don’t really think that ability disappeared,” Sikkema said.

And now former NFL cornerback Will Blackmon, who won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants in 2012, has named Newton his “steal of the 2024 draft”.

Newton, though almost 23 years old, decided to stay at TCU for the 2023 season, but the cornerback and his team had a down year. Almost 24 years old at the time of the Draft, his value as a player had dropped.

Still, the 6’0, 190 pound Newton knows how to use his size and physicality to disrupt pass catchers. So he will be a welcome addition to a secondary that saw a sharp decline last year.
