Becky Lynch and Sami Zayn get their challengers for Saudi Arabia

With the Draft in the rearview and new rosters locked in after Backlash, last night (May 6) on Raw WWE got focused on building out the card for their second international premium live event of the month — May 25’s King & Queen of the Ring in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

That meant adding a pair of title matches to the card. Both have been building for a while, and those builds came to a head on Monday night in Hartford, Connecticut.

Intercontinental champion Sami Zayn was attacked by Chad Gable after their match in Montreal a few weeks back, and Gable got involved in Zayn’s match with Bronson Reed on last Monday’s show. So Sami returned the favor this week, attacking Alpha Academy’s headmaster and the big Australian during their match. It didn’t work out exactly as planned…

… but that didn’t deter the champ from agreeing to a Triple Threat title defense during a backstage interview.

Then in the next segment on the show, Liv Morgan interrupted a promo from WWE Women’s World champ Becky Lynch. Morgan wanted to know when she’d get the title shot Lynch promised her after she beat Nia Jax last week.

Becky told her she can have it in three weeks, then reminded Liv she’s never beaten her. But Morgan says she now has purpose, and that purpose (basically the complete destruction of Rhea Ripley, who’s sidelined with an injury she got brawling with Liv after WrestleMania) will allow her to take down The Man this time around.

The #1 contender then bailed to leave Lynch alone against Damage CTRL, but the debuting Lyra Valkyria came to the champ’s aid before defeating Dakota Kai in the Queen of the Ring tournament.

Will Valkyria make her way to the QotR finals? If so, she’ll join her fellow Irishwoman on a card that currently looks like this:

• Becky Lynch (c) vs. Liv Morgan for the WWE Women’s World championship

• Sami Zayn (c) vs. Bronson Reed vs. Chad Gable in a Triple Threat for the Intercontinental title

• Finals of the King of the Ring tournament

Finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament
