Adelaide International tournament director Alistar MacDonald says Novak Djokovic is “looking sharp” and “ready to take on all the contenders.”

Djokovic, 35, officially landed in Adelaide this week.

Now, everything is set for Djokovic to play his first tournament in Australia since the Australia visa saga.

For his first tournament of the 2023 season, Djokovic picked the Adelaide International.

The Adelaide tournament is set to feature a star-studded player field as Daniil Medvedev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Andrey Rublev, Holger Rune and Jannik Sinner are also playing.

MacDonald: Djokovic is ready

“He looked fantastic today. He’s arrived in Adelaide ready to take on all the contenders here. We’re really looking forward to him, he’s looking sharp and his team’s thrilled to be in Adelaide. He knows Adelaide pretty well, he knows what to expect, the conditions are pretty similar to Melbourne. So I think his whole team is really, really happy to be here in Adelaide. Obviously, he’s got a big team around him, he’s very particular about the way he prepares and even today, being on the court for the first time, you really get a sense for the preparation that goes into each and every training session, and he’s also very particular about his food. So, we’re just making sure that he can get a good vegan feed and the team’s been excellent so far,” MacDonald said.

Throughout his entire career, Djokovic has enjoyed lots of success in Australia.

At the Australian Open, Djokovic is a record nine-time champion.

Three years ago at the inaugural ATP Cup in Australia, Djokovic led Serbia to winning the title.

Now, the general belief and expectation are that Djokovic will enjoy an impressive return to Australia.

Going into the Adelaide International, Djokovic is the top favorite for the title.

The same goes for the Australian Open as Djokovic has been massively tipped to win a record 10th title at Melbourne Park.
