on

Acola is one of the biggest players in Smash Bros, and he’s been on a fast rise over the last few years. That rise has culminated in becoming arguably the best active Smasher. He’s just gotten some great recognition for that, winning the Japan esports player of the year award.

Esports is a growing industry and one with more than one set of awards to honor those who excel. We’ve got the western Esports Awards, which took place for 2023 in November. However, there’s also the Japanese esports awards. In fighting games and Super Smash Bros, they can be particularly important, with so much of the driving force behind these games coming from that region. Acola winning the Japan esports player of the year award is a great example of how far he’s come lately.
