Monk played left tackle, center and right guard during his college career with the Duke Blue Devils.

One draft pick, which came from the Aaron Rodgers trade to the New York Jets, has been used to make three selections in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Green Bay Packers were originally awarded the 41st overall pick via the Jets, which they turned into the 45th pick, the 168th pick and the 190th pick in a trade back with the New Orleans Saints.

The 45th pick was spent on linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, while the 190th pick was used in a trade-up to the 111th pick for safety Evan Williams. Now, the 168th pick was sent along with the 219th pick for the Packers to move up to #163, where they selected Duke center Jacob Monk.

According to the Packers’ Wes Hodkiewicz, Monk played a total of 3,777 snaps of offense for the Blue Devils over his college career — as he took advantage of the Covid season to become a five-year starter for Duke. He also is an impressive athlete, as shown by his Relative Athletic Score below.

Monk has played tackle, guard and center for Duke, but mostly spent time on the interior offensive line positions. Over the last two years, he’s started 10 games at center and 13 games at right guard after spending 2019 at right tackle and 2020-2021 at right guard full-time. He was also a team captain for the Blue Devils the last two years and was named Second-Team All-ACC in 2023.

The 22-year-old’s father, Stanley, was a running back at Duke who signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 1988. His uncle, Quincy, was drafted in the seventh round out of North Carolina in 2002 by the New York Giants.

The Packers didn’t have much depth on the interior offensive line, as backups Caleb Jones, Luke Tenuta and Kadeem Telfort are likely tackle-only players due to their size. Hopefully, Monk and Andre Dillard (who can play tackle) can push Royce Newman as the next man up at guard this summer.
