Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio confirms that WWE had big plans for Kenny Omega and the Elite. They offered them all great contracts. Meltzer says that Omega was very impressed by the offer made by WWE, but they decided to start AEW instead. Fans speculated that the Elite signing with WWE would have meant going to NXT, but Meltzer confirmed that WWE already had a top level feud in mind for all of them. The idea was to push them all as top talent in top angles.
Meltzer believes that the WWE would have had a better chance of signing Kenny Omega had they offered him a guaranteed match with AJ Styles at WrestleMania and a 3 million dollar contract.
