WWE Confirms Employee Tested Positive For COVID-19 (UPDATED)

on

WWE issued the following press release announcing that an on-screen employee of the company, who is not a talent, has tested positive for COVID-19. WWE states that the employee was exposed after the tapings at the Performance Center on March 26th, which included WrestleMania 36, and has since had no contact with anyone who works for the company.

Pro Wrestling Sheet later confirmed that the employee went to dinner with friends who work in the healthcare industry shortly after the tapings ended, then began feeling symptoms a couple days after that. Check out the statement below.

A WWE employee has tested positive for COVID-19. We believe this matter is low risk to WWE talent and staff, as the individual and a roommate became symptomatic in the days following exposure to two people working in acute health care on the evening of March 26, after WWE’s TV production on a closed set was already complete. The employee had no contact with anyone from WWE since being exposed to those two individuals, is doing well, and made a complete recovery.

*UPDATE: PW Insider has confirmed that the employee did not work this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown, but that they are recovering from the exhibited symptoms. We’ll keep you further updated as this is an ongoing story.
