Las Vegas added veteran depth twice in a week

The Las Vegas Raiders have made it a post-draft priority to add depth to their wide receiver group as, last week, they signed former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup and former Los Angeles Chargers speedster Jalen Guyton on Monday.

Let’s take a look the Raiders’ wide receiver room now:

New free agents added:

Michael Gallup, Jalen Guyton.

Free agents re-signed:

None.

Free agent who departed:

None.

Players cut:

Hunter Renfrow.

Remaining unrestricted free agents:.

DeAndre Carter.

Conclusion:

It’s clear the Raiders felt they needed to get aggressive at this position after ignoring in the draft. The Raiders needed depth here and have added that in the form of Gallup and Guyton. Guyton, who with new Las Vegas general manager Tom Telesco for first five NFL seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, is probably less than a sure thing to make the 53-man roster than Gallup. Guyton, who can stretch the field, should vie to be the No. 5 or 6 (if they keep six players at the position) on the roster. Gallup, who had 34 catches in 2023 and who has 266 receptions in six NFL seasons, will compete with second-year player Tre Tucker to be the No. 3 receiver behind starters Davante Adams and Jakobi Myers, who make one of the best starting tandems in the league. The Raiders could still tinker at the position, but they may be done making significant pre-training camp additions at wide receiver.
