2XKO – the upcoming fighting game title from Riot

Riot’s fighting game, previously known as Project L, has been in the works for quite a while. Gamers have been anxious to see how Riot would tackle the genre by combining it with the League of Legends universe. Yet, it looks like we are not far from seeing it become public.

Aside from creating a new format and incorporating unique mechanics such as the tag team combos, fans are excited to see how dynamic the game and its esports scene will be. Fighting games have been on the rise recently and Riot’s release will inevitably further invigorate it.

When is the 2XKO Release Date?

While there isn’t a confirmed release date, the game is looking to launch in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S | X, and PC. That being said, some lucky fans will get the chance to test it before the official release, with demos being played around the world this year. A first taste was given to participants of EVO last year. In 2024, Riot announced it will be also available to try at the EVO Japan, which will take place in April.

“We’re also hoping to start at-home playtesting before the end of the year,” developers said in an official press release. “If you wanna participate, you can sign up right now on the 2XKO website”. Check out their website here to sign up.

Unfortunately, we don’t know if the game will be released in the first part or the second part of 2025. To find out, we’ll have to wait a bit more to find out.

What characters are in 2XKO?

The following characters are confirmed to be part of Project L, even though not all of them were featured in the playable demos:

  • Katarina
  • Darius
  • Ahri
  • Ekko
  • Jinx
  • Illaoi
  • Yasuo

As for future characters, it’s still unclear who will make it to the final roster. There are also chances that more champions will be added after the release. Regardless, each character will have its selection of chromas, giving that bit of customization.
