Attempting a cut shot, Saha edged the ball to wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, departing after a mere 1 run off 7 balls. Gill followed suit in the next over from Siraj, where a top edge resulted in his dismissal, caught by Vijaykumar Vyshak. Underwhelming start for Gujarat Titans in powerplay

Gujarat’s woes continued as Cameron Green struck in the final over of the powerplay, dismissing Sai Sudharsan for 6 runs off 14 balls. This further compounded Gujarat’s struggles, leaving them at 19/3 and in dire need of stability in their innings. The lacklustre start to GT’s innings saw them set an unwanted record, registering the lowest powerplay total of 23/3 in IPL 2024. This disappointing performance surpassed Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) previous record of 27/3 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) earlier in the season, underscoring the magnitude of GT’s batting challenges in the initial overs.
