The no-nonsense veteran’s words are more than encouraging.

Vonn Bell has a very low tolerance for nonsense.

He will literally deflate you if your shenanigans get out of hand. Just ask JuJu Smith-Schuster.

So when Bell has praise for the Cincinnati Bengals’ group of young safeties, that isn’t just your typical offseason hype. Rather, it’s a very encouraging sign.

Bell spoke to reporters recently about his return to the franchise. He talked about his role as a veteran leader and indicated that he’s (obviously) ready to put in the work necessary to help the team.

Bell was then asked about his expectations for the safeties and had this to say:

“Very talented room, (the) sky’s the limit. I sat with Geno Stone earlier this morning, ended up catching up with each other and just doing things like that. And the sky’s the limit. A very talented (safety) room, and I can’t wait to see where it gets to.”

Indeed, the addition of Stone is a move that’s received a lot of praise from NFL pundits and executives alike. He could very well be the replacement for Jessie Bates, who the Bengals desperately needed last year.

But when Bell mentions “room,” he’s also implicitly referring to second-year player Jordan Battle and potentially even the third-year Dax Hill. Bell isn’t expected to be the long-term answer for strong safety.

Hopefully, though, with his mentorship, one of those two could emerge to become a similarly physical presence and enforcer for years to come.
