The schedule is out, and so are the early lines

Now that we know what the 2024 NFL schedule looks like, the early. . .like, way early. . .betting lines are out for Week 1, and the game between the New York Giants and our Minnesota Vikings is expected to be a close one.

According to our friends at the DraftKings Sportsbook, the Vikings have opened up as a one-point underdog to the Giants in their opening lines. The over/under for the contest is currently set at 41.5 points.

The last time these two teams met was in the 2022 NFC playoffs, as the Giants came into U.S. Bank Stadium and upset the Vikings in the Wild Card round by a score of 31-24 in the game that (probably) got Daniel Jones a $40 million/year contract. . .or, at the very least, played a significant role in that.

Just a few weeks before that, the Vikings and Giants met in the regular season and the Vikings emerged victorious 27-24 on Greg Joseph’s franchise-record 61-yard field goal as time expired.

Both the Giants and the Vikings finished the 2023 season with disappointing records, with the Vikings finishing at 7-10 and the Giants ending at 6-11. This will be the third year for the head coaches of both these teams, as Kevin O’Connell and Brian Daboll will both be looking to turn their squads around this coming season. The Giants will still have Jones behind center, while the Vikings will definitely have a new quarterback to start things off next season, whether it’s veteran Sam Darnold or rookie J.J. McCarthy.

Obviously, it’s way too early to really know who the favorite in this game should be. But, if you’ve got some money burning a hole in your pocket and you want to get in on the Vikings being an underdog to open the 2024 NFL season, now is your chance to do so.
