Meko and Morgan are back to breakdown the contract extensions for Lions’ wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and offensive tackle Penei Sewell.

Detroit Lions fans around the world celebrated Wednesday when multiple pieces of breaking news dropped surrounding their franchise, and despite it being this close to the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit—it had nothing to do with the draft.

Instead, general manager Brad Holmes and the rest of the Lions’ brass officially came to contract terms on two foundational pillars of the team in wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and offensive tackle Penei Sewell.

Both Sewell and St. Brown are members of Holmes’ inaugural 2021 draft class, and each earned their respective deals. St. Brown signed a massive extension that currently makes him the highest-paid receiver in football, while Sewell signed a four-year deal that actually is a six-year extension.

Beyond their on-field production, each of them have been essential to the culture created here by coach Dan Campbell and the rest of the Lions’ organization. From St. Brown’s work ethic before, during, and after practice, to Sewell’s leadership both on, and off the field.

Meko and I break down everything that we currently know about the deals over on the Pride of Detroit YouTube channel, including why it was important to take care of these guys first, how it might impact contracts for other players in the future, and much more. You can catch the entirety of the video here.
