The Lunar New Year is almost here and celebrations are set to arrive into VALORANT soon as well. Riot Games has unveiled a stunning XERØFANG skin bundle and the Scales of Fortune Event Pass in VALORANT, giving fans a lot to grind for in February 2024. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
With the release of the new VALORANT Patch 8.01, there have been quite a lot of changes to the meta. Certain agents such as Skye have been completely nerfed. Due to this, there has been quite a reduction in her pick rate. The esports side of VALORANT might be in a phase of transition but the new skins won’t let the hype die down. With it being the Year of the Dragon, VALORANT has launched the new Scales of Fortune Event Pass as well as the XERØFANG skin bundle.
What is the Scales of Fortune Event Pass in VALORANT?

It’s an annual tradition for fans to wait for the Lunar New Year, a major celebration in China. Riot is marking the celebrations with a lot of new features in the game including the Scales of Fortune Event Pass. In this, fans can unlock certain titles and sprays in VALORANT after gaining a certain amount of EXP. Players can unlock the following rewards from the event pass:
- “Fortune Booster” Title
- “Fortune Paws” Gunbuddy
- “Loong Kee” Playercard
- “Delightful Stretch” Spray
- 20 Radianite Points
These items will be available in a 6-level event pass which will work similarly to the Battle Pass in VALORANT. The Scales Of Fortune Event Pass is going to be available from the Feb. 7 to 28 in VALORANT.
Is the XERØFANG skin bundle one of the best skins in VALORANT?
The next bit of content released by Riot for the Year of the Dragon is the XERØFANG skin bundle. This skin consists of Animated “scales” on the side of the guns that react during firing, reloading, and inspecting animations. It has an exclusive reload, inspect, shooting, and equip audio as well as a custom kill banner. There are three color variants for this skinline, each having their finisher based on the variant color.
Additionally, the skin bundle has brought a new gun buddy into VALORANT. When equipped on a weapon, the dragon’s eyes and face light up while the weapon is firing a bullet.
The weapons that are a part of this skinline are:
- Vandal
- Ghost
- Melee (CQC-style knife)
Each of the weapons has fourlevels to unlock various sounds as well as the finisher. The melee, on the other hand, just has two levels. When asked about the design goals for the XERØFANG bundle, Kerwin Atienza, the senior manager of art direction for VALORANT, said:
“Our previous lunar new year skinlines (Ox, Tiger, Rabbit) have been more on the traditional side. For the year of the dragon celebration, we wanted to go the opposite direction and have something more modern and futuristic that we believe will resonate with our core audience.”

What Is The Cost Of The XERØFANG bundle?
The XERØFANG bundle will cost 6,355 VP. The melee weapon, if bought separately, will cost 4,350 VP. In the bundle, players will get the Vandal and Ghost skins. They will also be receiving the melee weapon with a player card, the reactive gun buddy, and a non-animated spray to use in VALORANT.
